Levy County Florida
Florida’s Nature Coast consists of eight counties which make up the inside curve of the Big Bend on the Gulf of Mexico. The heart of the area is Levy County with the well-known Suwannee River as its northern border, the historic Withlacoochee River on the south, and on the west by the Gulf of Mexico. Fishing, hunting, boating, bird watching, camping, snorkeling and manatee tours are popular outdoor recreational activities. In addition to its scenic beauty, Levy County is home to a myriad of wildlife, which substantially outnumbers the human inhabitants. Motels, hotels, Bed & Breakfast inns, and numerous campsites accommodate travelers visiting our area. Levy County contains many parks, preserves, springs and wildlife refuges where tourists can enjoy outdoor recreation.
Visit the historic fishing village of Cedar Key and Williston, the peanut capital of Florida. There are numerous annual festivals such as the Cedar Key Fine Arts Festival and the seafood festivals in Cedar Key and Yankeetown.
Fishing is extremely popular with a wide variety of fresh water and saltwater species. Don’t know the area? Talented and competent guides are available to put you on the fish.
Leave the big-city life and the hustle and bustle or ordinary living behind and visit the Nature Coast when the critters here are not the product of creative engineering. Our denizens are real – alligators, black bears, flamingos, pelicans, sea turtles and manatees. Don’t forget deep cave diving, scalloping, deep sea and inshore fishing. If it’s outdoor activities you want, Levy County is the place to visit.
